The Spirit of the FIGA method
A Framework for Modern Collaboration
The origins of FIGA trace back not to business strategy, but as a whispered reminder to a legacy of resilience.
“Figa” was the secret identity my grandmother carried during the Second World War in Poland. An undercover identity that represented resilience, endurance, and purposeful action in challenging circumstances. Her story was not loud or about grand gestures. It was about measured courage, steady intention, and the belief that even small, consistent choices can shape a better future.
Growing up, her stories shaped how I understood leadership, responsibility and impact. They taught me that strength can be quiet, understated power can be full of integrity, and grounded determination can open pathways that didn’t exist before. Her story inspired me to build a career focused on creating and connecting impact across sectors and this became the foundation of my professional life, and eventually the blueprint for the FIGA method.
Over a decade working within international development and humanitarian systems, I saw frameworks designed for resilience, strategic foresight, and sustainable impact. I also observed that these lessons tended to be confined to institutions, governments, and global foundations. Yet they are deeply relevant to the private sector, where innovation accelerates, where capital moves, where new and unconventional partnerships emerge. Despite facing similar challenges of uncertainty, environmental pressure, shifting markets, and increasing expectations in sustainability - the two fields do, however, appear disconnected.
The FIGA Method is built on that foundation and exists to bridge gaps and work at the intersection of sectors that may not naturally cross paths. The mission is to translate the depth of development-sector thinking into strategies the private sector can use - practical, community focused, and built for real-world contexts. Rather than applying rigid models, FIGA works alongside each client to align purpose with performance, resilience with business growth, and strategy and partnerships with the goal of synergy and common ground. The focus remains the same, shaping strategies and connections that unlock opportunities that weren’t visible before.
The approach and portfolio of clients is intentionally broad, flexible, and adaptive without limiting the scope to any single sector but to remain responsive to the unique goals of each partner.
Clients include: investors seeking climate adaptation in their portfolios; SMEs navigating change or exploring emerging global trends; tourism operators responding to climate realities, foundations and donors shaping their next chapter; or developers and businesses integrating sustainability into core operations for co-designing impactful, cross-sector initiatives.
My grandmothers life taught me that even in the harshest conditions, we can choose purpose over fear, connection over division, and clarity over circumstance. These values guide how I work, lead, and partner. With grounded determination, ethical clarity, and a belief that meaningful transformation begins with the small, consistent choices we make every day.
